AFRICA MOVIE ACADEMY AWARDS 2016...

Long time no hear. Please excuse my absence while I try to finish my assessments before the due date which is next week. I'll be a free woman after that. Ha!
I hope everyone is fine and had a lovely weekend though. I'll be visiting all your blogs bit by bit, so please bear with me.
Thank you...
For the mean time, since its been a while I posted something about Africa with y'all, - I thought it would be great to share what some of the celebs wore to the AMAA 2016 awards show.
Enjoy and wish everyone a blessed week ahead.
Above is Ghanaian actress, Nana Akua Addo who stunned in a red strapless detailed gown by Rikaotobyme. Makeup on fleek!
TV presenter/actress, Keturah King shined in a two-toned gown which was tailored to perfection.
Queen Nwokoye shimmered in a gown by Swanky Signatures. Gorg!

  •  Nomzamo Mbatha sure didn't come to play. Sexy, but that makeup doesn't work at all.
  • Ghanaian actress, Ella Mensah graced the event in a black thigh-high slit number by Ay Stitches. Great hair and makeup!

  •  Thando's makeup was on point, but this dress looks too busy. Too much embroidery! I don't know if it's the photo or how she lifted the dress, but it just took the beauty of it away.
  • Nice back detail of Cindy Dagogo's dress.

  • Can't figure out who this lady in strapless sequin is, but apparently she's a Ghanaian actress. Pretty lady, but the blue hair and something about this dress doesn't sit well with me.
  • Now this is what I call bold and beautiful! Eniola Badmus slayyed in Elegante Designs.
Ebinabo Annie Potts Johnson looked simply classy and glamorous. Great gown and accessories!
Ghanaian actress, Juliet Ibrahim brought the glamour in glamorous in a gown by Jay Becks. That dress is hugging all the right places. Stunning!
Ghanaian actress, Juliet Ibrahim presenting Olu Jacobs and his wife with the AMAA Lifetime Achievement Award. Well deserved! They're legends in the African movie industry.
Actress, Tracy Daniels looked beautiful, but I'm not feeling the extra material on this dress. What do you think?
Mike Ezuruonye (Nigerian actor) and Kgopedi Lilokoe (South African radio personality) presenting.

*Credit and thanks to my friend, Debbin Photography for this collaboration. He's a great photographer in Nigeria who has worked for many Nigerian celebrities and was the official photographer for the Award show. If you're a Nigerian native and need a photographer, he's your man.*

OOTD: RED ALERT!...

Hello Beauties!
Thank you for your great birthday wishes and encouraging words on my last post. I was blown away by the positivity from some of you ladies. This is one of the things that makes blogging worthwhile and makes me want to continue. It is always good to hear other female's perspective on things. Helpful!
Today's #ootd is an outfit I wore to a funeral. Now before you start giving me the side eye, the zip was fully zipped at the funeral. Ha! While taking these shots, the sassiness in me got the best of me. Lol!
I don't know what's going on, but there are a lot of funerals in my community this year. Can you believe I saw a man I know at the funeral I wore this outfit to and on Monday, it was announced that this man has passed in the morning. I was dumbfounded!
"But I just saw him on Saturday. -how is that possible?", says Mavis.
Incidents like this definitely gets you thinking about life. If one knew the day they would pass away, it would've been a whole different ball game, isn't it?
Do what makes you happy, love hard, take chances, eat that cake, take that trip, get that degree, etc. etc.
"Life to me is a journey - you never know what may be your next destination."
(David Russell)

My prayers and condolence to the families in Orlando and also to The Voice candidate, Christina Grimmie's families.
The world is getting crazier each passing day.

Have a good/safe day, Beauties.

OOTD & HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MISSY MAY...

Happy Birthday to Missy May!
God, this is how far You've brought Mavis (a.k.a Missy May) and she's grateful. Thank You...

As I hit 31 today, I'm reminded of how good God is and how fortunate/blessed I am to be alive. Looking back at moments where I wanted to kill myself or wish I could vanish from the face of the earth, because of family issues and life blows. - Well I'm glad none of that happened, because I feel like this is my moment.
Am I where I want to be yet? No! Do I even know where I want to be? Not really! I'm a simple person and all I want is good health, a family of my own, a fulfilling job, a place I can call home and to be a blessing to others. Anything on top of that is an icing on the cake and I'll forever be grateful.
It is okay not to know sometimes. Just take one day at a time, do your best, pray and leave the rest to God. God in His infinite mercy will surely come through.
In an era where everything is so artificial and the world is in a competition with one another, it is easy to get caught up with all the bulls. It is easier to feel like a failure if you believe all the hype on social media. Why is she saying that? Because at some point I nearly got overly depressed with how everyone, especially females portrayed that posh/perfect life on social media. I'm a single mother who's not married, rents and just living a simple life so of course its bound to happen when everyone else is rubbing perfection in your face. I'm now in the know that not everyone has their life together like it is presented on social media.

On the #ootd, I wore this to church. This dress was custom made in Ghana in 2014. It is special to me, because the fabric was a birthday gift from a good person when I visited Ghana that year.
These accessories were also custom made in Ghana. Thanks to the people who gifted me these as well.
The sandals are old from Primark. I still can't believe its from them. It is great!
Bag and belt from them as well.

Hope the week is treating you well.
Have a great day!

OOTD: COLOURFUL AND FAUX LEATHER SKIRT...

The never ending possibilities of a dress! It can be worn on its own with different accessories, as a top, as a skirt or just wear something simple as a shirt inside. Can you think of anything else?
Hello Beauties!
How y'all doing?
Its officially June, - half way through the year. I sure hope the first half has been good to you. Zigzag is the right word to describe mine, but still here so I got to give it to the Alfa/Omega upstairs.
I'm writing this post tucked in a duvet thinking about how far I've come. I'll be hitting thirty one in six days. It has been one hella bumpy ride and in as much as I feel life could have been a bit fair to me, I'm not sweating it now. Every setback is a setup for a comeback. -And besides it could have been much worse.
Lets focus on the gift of life which of course is a blessing, try our best and leave the rest to God.
Thank You, Lord!
Enjoy the colourful and faux leather look I put together.
TGIF! Have a lovely weekend full of fun.
